Victory #1 (Judges 20:29-48

  1. Don’t rely on yourself to get out of your troubles

Inquiry #4 (Judges 21:2-3)

Two Bad Vows

  1. We will destroy the worthless men of Gibeah and any one of Israel who does not fight alongside of us (Judges 20:8, 21:5).
  2. We will not let our children intermarry with any surviving Benjaminites (Judges 21:1, 7, 18).

Two Bad Solutions

  1. Steal some girls from Jabesh-Gilead (Judges 21:12).
  2. Kidnap some more girls from Shiloh (Judges 21:19-25).

Applications

  1. It is always better to stick to doing what God reveals, rather than what we think might work.
  2. Accept the fact that the path to victory is sometimes potholed with failures.
  3. Real success is intimately connected to real humility.
  4. Don’t be a Canaanite Christian
