[John 13:1-17]

I. It is a picture that teaches the spiritual cleansing we need to come to God;

“If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.”

II. It is a picture that teaches the joyful, lowest service we must offer each other;

“For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.”

III. It is a picture that teaches how the Christian receives ongoing sanctification from God.

“The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean."
