I. PRESERVATION
All those who are truly born again will be PRESERVED by God's power until the end of their lives.
1) God holds us [John 10:27-30];
2) God gives us certainty [Romans 8:38-39];
3) God's wills it [John 6:38-40];
4) God gives a deposit [2 Corinthians 1:21-22];
5) God sees it as already accomplished [Romans 8:30].
II. PERSEVERANCE
All those who are truly born again will PERSEVERE as Christians until the end of their lives.
1) The race [Hebrews 12:1-2];
2) The crown [2 Timothy 4:7-8];
3) The model [Jude 17-22].
III. HOW TO PERSEVERE
- Faith
- Prayer
- Love
- Hope
IV. PERSEVERANCE AND THE DOCTRINES OF GRACE
Perseverance of the Saints is inescapable when we understand and believe the Doctrines of Grace and a biblical and logical impossibility if we do not.
V. APPLICATION
This doctrine...
1) ...humbles us;
2) ...motivates our sanctification;
3) ...gives us assurance.
