Love and The Holy Spirit

September 24, 2006 Speaker: Paul Martin Series: Romans

Topic: Expository Preaching Scripture: Romans 13:8–14, Galatians 4:21–31

HOW IT IS WE ARE REALLY TO LOVE?

LAW IS NOT THE CHRISTIAN'S FOCUS ANYMORE.
-- WHAT IS? --> WRONG QUESTION
-- WHO IS? ---> JESUS CHRIST

JESUS CHRIST IS THE FOCUS FOR CHRISTIAN LIVING.

The trace of the development of the Holy Spirit as a GENERATOR and FUEL of Christian's LOVE.

1) Romans 2:25-29 -- the contrast between the Law and the Holy Spirit;

2) Romans 5:3-5 -- the fruit of justification by grace trough faith in Christ is the Holy Spirit making known the love of God for us;

4) Romans 7:1-6 -- the Law as a 'guardian' or 'tutor' (see Galatians 3:23-29 and Galatians 4:21 as well); all the Law can do is show us sin and what can we do: flee to Christ;

5) Romans 8:2 -- what the Holy Spirit has done for us;

6) Romans 12:1 an further -- the goal: A LIFE IN TOTALLY DEPENDENCE OF HOLY SPIRIT.
