You Need God in This Daily War

1. The reason there is a war: You are free from sin’s power, but you are not able to do God’s Law in your own power. 
     a. The inward principle of sin dwells in you (the Christian) (14-17)
     b. The inward principle of sin is still you (18-21)
     c. You are in a constant state of war in this life as a Christian (22-23)
          i. You love God’s truth in your truest self…
          ii. “The flesh” you hate still has a home in your inner self…
     d. This war ends at the grave for the Christian (24-25)

2. The way to fight in this war: You must use the methods God has appointed to deal with your sin now.
     a. You look sin in the face and tell it, “I am dead to your power.”
          i. Then you ask the Holy Spirit to kill it. You pray something like, “Spirit of God please kill ‘the flesh’ in me.”
          ii. You must actually depend on the Holy Spirit (8:11–13)
     b. You must learn the Holy Bible (7:22, 25)
