A Misplaced Confidence

- Putting your confidence in your unique spiritual advantages instead of God, will not erase your sins, in fact, it will highlight them (2:17-24)
- True believers put their confidence in God alone, not in their outward signs or ceremonies (2:25-29)
- Squandered spiritual advantages do not make those advantages any less valuable (3:1-8)
Three terrible ideas:
- If God’s righteousness is highlighted by my unrighteousness, then that makes God unrighteous to punish me in hell (5)
- If God’s faithfulness is glorified by my lie (covenant unfaithfulness), then that makes God unfair to punish me as a sinner (7)
- If good (the glorification of God) comes about as a result of my doing evil, then I should just do more evil (8)
