Don't Be a Hypocrite
Speaker: Paul Martin Series: Good News for a Weary World Scripture: Romans 2:1–29
Statement of the Argument: You Jews are hypocrites because you condemn the Gentiles for doing the very sins you commit (1-5)
A. Condemners will be condemned (1-3)
B. Condemners despise God’s gracious patience (4-5)
Supporting Points to the Main Argument:
- God judges every person on the basis of their works (6-11)
- Possession of the Law does not mean you are saved. Obedience to the Law is evidence you have been justified (12-16)
- Jewish hypocrisy in itself deserves even greater condemnation because it obscures the Gospel (17-24)
- A closing illustration: Circumcision of the heart beats circumcision of the flesh every time (25-29)
