Inside Out: The Bible on Body Image

1 Peter 3:1-9

I. The Bible acknowledges the reality of beauty.
          1. Beauty exists, but it changes.
          2. Beauty can lead to trouble.
          3. Some People Are Not Beautiful

II. Physical beauty is not what makes us acceptable to God.

III. How you see yourself when you look in the mirror depends a lot on the voices you are listening to.

IV. There is one standard that matters.

V.  Death and idols affect our perceptions of ourselves.

VI. How should we live?
          1. Accept how He made you.
          2. Find your greatest identity in Christ.
          3. Be more excited about other people’s godliness than their looks.
          4. Consider the power of your words.
          5. Enjoy beauty for what it is.
          6. Ponder the end of your shame in the shame of the cross.
